How it all began

“She was a quick-witted, fast-walking, New Yorker who was drawn to adventure and pierogi. I loved it.”

— Piotr

“He knew all the words to Abba’s Dancing Queen and could Swing Dance. I loved it.”

— Ella

Ella and Piotr met in 2015 at a wedding where they danced together all night! But at the time Piotr had just started his PhD in Nashville and Ella was finishing undergrad in South Carolina. The time wasn’t right. So over the next year they kept in touch, slowly becoming friends.

Then, in December of 2016, Piotr came to visit New York City, where Ella lived at the time. The two had drinks, dinner, and touristed together. Something sparked, and the messages came faster.

The 2016 Dinner in New York!

Almost a year later, in August of 2017, they met up again, this time in Warszawa, Poland, where they explored for a week together before spending their last evening huddled under the stars in Stare Miasto.

Finally, two years after they met, Ella visited Piotr in Nashville and they decided to date!

The day we started dating!

After just a few months, Ella turned in her thesis, packed her bags, and took a chance - flying all the way to Leeds, UK where she and Piotr moved in together for the first time. They had copious scones, trips around Yorkshire, and Beatles-themed evenings. By the time they came back to the states, they’d decided it works.

Since Leeds, Ella and Piotr dated long-distance, lived together in Nashville, Piotr became a robot doctor, Ella changed careers, they moved from Nashville to South San Francisco just before COVID hit, Piotr joined Noah Medical, Ella started law school, they moved together to Sunnyvale, Ella became a lawyer at SFMOMA, and their family grew by one cat, their greatest joy, Karl.

With all the chaos and fun, Ella and Piotr finally decided to get engaged around their five-year anniversary. They designed a ring together and flew back to New York, where their spark really began, and proposed to each other among the Christmas lights and their favorite Polish food.

Now, they want to bring you, their favorite people, to one of their favorite places to celebrate the next great part of this story!

Picking up our ring!

And the rest is history

Please enjoy a collection of Karl, the center of our lives.

He is, we’re sure, devastated he will not be in attendance. But he is very happy for his food-bringers.
